As early travelers arrived in Annapolis, Maryland by ship they were met by a horse drawn carriage. Once their belongings were unloaded from their ship they would proceed up Main Street to West Street and travel to Baltimore, Philadelphia, and over time to Washington DC.

 

Over the years, West Street has evolved. Yet in many ways is still the gateway from downtown Annapolis to the major highways of today. In an effort to respect the rich history and traditions of West Street Annapolis, the name of the Corvette Annapolis car show called “Carriages on West Street” was born.
