Town Hill Bed & Breakfast Weekend

Historic Town Hill Bed & Breakfast is located in the scenic mountains of western Maryland. Originally built in early 1916 as a fruit stand, by 1920, it had become a bustling restaurant and hotel. Town Hill was "the first tourist hotel built in the state of Maryland to accommodate the automobile traveler." Its scenic overlook with an amazing view of three states and seven counties soon became known as the "Beauty Spot of Maryland." Even after extensive remodeling, the Inn still retains the look of yesteryear with its 10 foot ceilings, original woodwork, and furnishings.

Town Hill B&B: 301-478-2794 https://www.townhillbnb.com/rooms-and-rates. Call to book your room and provide a credit card. Payment for your stay will be finalized at check in. Be sure to confirm the cancellation policy. This is a shine or rain weekend! You are welcome to drive another car instead of your Vette if you prefer. All the rooms with private baths have been reserved. However, rooms with adjacent hall baths are available. The hall baths are shared by no more than two rooms. They are large and modern. You may also ask to be placed on the waiting list for a room with a private bath. 

Rocky Gap Casino & Resort: 800-724-0828, https://www.cnty.com/rocky-gap For those that prefer a private bath, the Resort is about 15 minutes west of Town Hill on Rt. 68. Rooms are $179/night plus applicable state and local taxes currently at 14%, a State Park fee of $3.00 per night, a $28.00 per night Resort Fee, all paid at the time of check in. 

For those staying at the Resort, you can enjoy country breakfasts on Sat and/or Sun morning and Sat dinner at the Inn if you like. I will need to confirm your meal reservations 2 weeks prior. Payment will be made when you arrive at the Inn either Friday evening or Sat morning. Cost TBD. 

Friday 10/20 - DIRECTIONS TO TOWN HILL and Flight 93 Memorial will be sent prior to the weekend. 

*DEPARTURE: 9:45AM from Royal Farms, Rt 3 N at Rt 175. Please arrive at TBD to sign waiver and review directions. We will make a stop at the rest area near Hagerstown on Int 70, and then drive west and make a stop at the Blue Goose Market & Bakery in Hancock. From Hancock, we will take scenic Rt 144 and Rt 40 for the remainder of the ride. Fun snacks, pies, and sweets can be purchased at the Blue Goose for the evenings at the Inn. *If you prefer to meet us along the way instead of meeting at Royal Farms, that is possible. Just let me know where we will see you on the road. 

We will not be stopping for lunch en route. I suggest that you either pack a lunch or snack, purchase something at Royal Farms or enjoy the snacks you purchase at the Blue Goose. 

ARRIVE: Town Hill B&B approximately TBD. (Check in is 3pm, however we may be able to check in early.) 

DINNER: 5:00pm Locust Post Brewery, Little Orleans, MD. Beer, local wines, pizza and pub food; separate checks available and ordering from their menu. We will caravan to the Brewery. Note that they do allow you to bring your own food, but no beverages of any kind. It’s just minutes from the Inn, so we will leave about 4:45pm. https://locustpostbrewery.com/

Sat 10/21: Coffee: 7:00 am, Breakfast: 8:00am Country breakfast! Included in the cost of your room.

DEPARTURE 8:45AM for Shanksville, PA. Driving directions will be sent prior to the weekend. There is no fee to visit the Flight 93 Memorial and no reservations are required. There is ample paved parking. https://www.nps.gov/flni/planyourvisit/index.htm 

LUNCH: in Bedford, PA. Restaurant TBD. Time for exploring Bedford and then drive back to the Inn. Caravan or on your own. 

DINNER: ~5:00pm Town Hill Inn. Cost ~$30/person added to your room cost. 

SAT EVENING: time for visiting, games, adult beverages in the dining room or sitting by the campfire (weather permitting), or family room fireplace. 

Sun 10/22: Country breakfast! Time: TBD (usually around 8am) Included in the cost of your room. 

DEPARTURE: check out by 10:00am. (No caravan planned) Please consider leaving a gratuity for the Inn staff that clean and set up each room and prepare and serve the meals. Also, kindly strip the sheets and pillow cases off the bed and leave the bed unmade when you leave. It saves the staff a great deal of time. Thank you!
